Square Enix has released the latest episode of Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV, the six-part animated prequel to Final Fantasy XV.
The fourth episode, “Bittersweet Memories,” focuses on protagonist Noctis and his relationship with Ignis, one of Final Fantasy XV’s party members.

Brotherhood was announced back in March during Square Enix’s Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event, with the first episode being released on digital platforms like YouTube and Crunchyroll that same day. Episodes two and three followed in June and July respectively, with episode five expected to launch on YouTube and Crunchyroll at a later date. A sixth episode will be available exclusively through Final Fantasy XV’s Ultimate Collector’s Edition, focusing on the character Luna.
Final Fantasy XV is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 29th after a delay of its original September release date. Before the game launches, Square Enix is releasing not only an animated series in the form of Brotherhood, but a film set in Final Fantasy XV’s universe called Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, which will be begin showing at select theaters in North America August 19th, followed by a digital release on August 30th, as well as a Blu-ray and DVD launch on October 9th.
By the time that Final Fantasy XV is actually available to the public, it will have been in development for over a decade, having originally been revealed as a PlayStation 3 exclusive under the name Final Fantasy Versus XIII in 2006. Final Fantasy XV was re-revealed under its new name in 2013 during Sony’s E3 press conference, where it was confirmed that the game transitioned from spin-off into a mainline title for the long-running role-playing game series.
