Black Mirror Season Three gets Air Date, Trailer

Black Mirror Season Three gets Air Date, Trailer 1

Netflix viewers rejoice, you have another season of a beloved show to binge watch while you stay up until 3 a.m. with bloodshot eyes. That’s right folks, Black Mirror is back for third season exclusively on Netflix, and fans are treated to a new trailer.

The new season is slated to return Oct 21, 2016, just in time for a Halloween binge, and continues the speculative fiction, anthology style storytelling the series is known for, set just a few minutes ahead of current time. Black Mirror is mostly compared to The Twilight Zone with its brand of storytelling, but with a modern twist. Each stand-alone episode features a new cast and setting exploring themes of technology and what can be done with pretty dark, and sometimes satiric undertones. While the new trailer doesn’t give away the plot for any given episode, it does show a focus on human’s ability to kill, augmentation, cyber sex, happiness, and social media presence with a bit of marketing in there too.

Created by the British broadcaster Charlie Brooker, known for his writing in Brass Eye, and Dead Set, season three of Black Mirror does come with a pedigree. Its success was shown on the world stage in 2012 when it won an International Emmy for best TV Movie/Miniseries. Its praise goes as far as Stephan King, who admitted he’s a fan as well.

The first season aired on the British Channel 4 only featuring three episodes. With Netflix acquiring the rights to the new season for $40 million, fans will have six episodes. While it’s not a lot, it is double the first season, so it should be enough to scratch that “what if” itch the series does so well.

There’s a lot to look forward to with the new season of Black Mirror, if the trailer is any suggestion, it will be just a rich, intelligent and uncomfortable as ever, just with more content.
