Chris Columbus Will Direct a Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie 3

Chris Columbus has been confirmed in a tweet today that he will be directing a Five Nights at Freddy’s movie for the production company, Blumhouse.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a PC game that originally released back in 2014 and since then has attracted a large fan base. The series has become so popular that four other games have been included in the franchise. While all sporting an overlapping story and different scenery, the general idea of the game has remained the same throughout the series.

In Five Nights at Freddy’s players would have to survive five nights at an establishment that was patrolled by haunted animatronics. To survive against the creepy machines, players have to manage the buildings power supply and keep track of where the animatronics are. Players are able to close doors, turn lights on or off and close ventilation shafts in hopes of keeping the cursed robots away from the player. Each of the five nights gets progressively more difficult to survive but if a player uses their keen senses and quick reflexes, then they can make it through all five nights.

While not much is known about the production of the movie, Chris Columbus is known for directing movies like Home Alone, Pixels, Night at the Museum, Gremlins and several others. It was previously rumoured that Columbus was working on a sequel to Gremlins, but with this announcement, however, it does not look like that will be the case.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a nerve-wracking jump scare game that is meant to keep players on their toes and Blumhouse has a history of producing scary movies that use jump scares to terrify their audiences. Blumhouse has produced the Paranormal Activity series, The Purge series, Insidious series, Split, Get Out, and many others.

There is no information as to how far along the movie is other than the fact that production is currently in progress.
