Avengers: Infinity War Official Trailer features All Four Infinity Stones 1

Marvel today released the official trailer for its upcoming super movie, Avengers: Infinity War, featuring large-scale warfare, an adolescent Gamora, Thanos in full battle attire, and all four Infinity Stones.

The trailer opens with Gamora, daughter of Thanos and core member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, telling Tony Stark that her father will have the power to destroy half the universe “with the snap of his fingers—” (dramatic cut to black) “—just like that.” As Gamora’s sets the stakes, we see a shot of Thanos’s Infinity Gauntlet, already garnishing two of the four Infinity Stones.

Following the trailer’s first shot of Thanos in his iconic body armour and helmet, Stark explains that he’s coming to Earth because “we have what Thanos wants,” i.e. the two remaining Infinity Stones. This is said over a shot of Doctor Strange revealing his chest-embedded Time Stone (which was obtained during the events of the movie Doctor Strange), followed by a shot of Vision and his tiara-esque Mind Stone (see Avengers: Age of Ultron). So in case you’ve been living under a rock and have missed the past ten years of MCU events, this trailer should catch you up with the most imperative factors: the bad guy has two stones, and he’s coming for our two stones.

Later, Thanos is shown taking the tiny green hand of a little girl who could either be a younger Gamora or an adolescent Zen-Whoberis, though Marvel lore suggests that Gamora is the last of this eradicated alien species (Thanos is her adopted father). Considering the other Zen-Whoberis seen in the shot (seemingly occupied by Thanos’s troops of Eternals), it might be safe to assume this is a flashback.

As with previous Avengers: Infinity War trailers, the official trailer also features a handful of appearances from the dozens of posterboard Marvel heroes we expect to see, including Starlord challenging Iron Man in a snark battle; Peter Parker and Doctor Strange exchanging awkward introductions; Black Widow, Black Panther, Captain America, and the Winter Soldier caravaning in hovercrafts; The Hulk rising from what appears to be a major fall; and Thor showing off his lightning-infused hammer to baby Groot.

Avengers: Infinity War comes out in theatres on April 27, two months after Black Panther smashed first-quarter movie records and proved to be “one of the best Marvel movies to date.”
