Donald Glover Releases 15-Page Deadpool Animated Script

Donald Glover Releases 15-Page Deadpool Animated Script 1

Donald Glover has clarified that his schedule was not the reason as to why his Deadpool animated series project was cancelled.

Glover announced the news in a tweet saying “for the record: i wasnt too busy to work on deadpool.” It was originally reported that the Deadpool series had been cancelled because of Glover’s hectic schedule, but his recent tweet suggests that that was not the case. Along with the tweet Glover released a 15-page script that very much seems like something he wrote in direct response to the show being cancelled.

The script is available on Donald Glover’s official Twitter in its entirety and features such jokes a couple shots at Marvel Entertainment and those responsible for the project being cancelled. These lines include Deadpool saying, “You know, I’m not really mad about this whole ‘cancelled’ thing. I actually think it’s a good thing. I mean, is it even a good time to have a violent, gun-loving white man ranting on TV (hard sell) other than the president!” Later on, Deadpool ponders “Doesn’t Marvel have enough feel-good minority shows everyone supports but doesn’t watch? I mean, I think our show woulda been funny.”

The Deadpool animated series was originally announced back in May of 2017 and given a ten-episode commitment by tv network FXX. Deadpool the Animated Series was helmed by Donald and his brother Stephen Glover, and it’s not clear at this time as to why the plug was pulled on the series.

Even with the cancellation of the series Donald Glover still has experience in a Marvel-related role as he appeared in last summer’s  Spider-Man Homecoming film, playing the uncle of Miles Morales, the Ultimates Universe version of Spider-Man. The next chance to see Glover in a film will be in May’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, where he will be playing the role of Lando Calrissian.
