Brie Larson Soars in Captain Marvel Trailer

Higher, Faster, Stronger.

Brie Larson Soars in Captain Marvel Trailer 2

After months of anticipation, the first trailer for the upcoming superhero film, Captain Marvel is here, and it certainly packs a punch.

The trailer debuted today on Good Morning America and it featured a noticeably serious tone, as well as a more in-depth look at Carol Danvers’ (Captain Marvel) role as an intergalactic soldier. That being said, there does seem to be glimmers of Marvel’s classic humour, in the film’s 1990’s world.

The trailer also showcased a slew of new characters, including the first good luck at the Skrulls, a race of extraterrestrial shapeshifters who are rumoured to be the main villains in the film. In the comics, the Skrulls have a long history of villainy, most of which have included attempts to invade and take over the earth. Captain Marvel will also include their mortal enemies, the Kree, who are a technologically advanced militaristic race. Jude Law, who plays Carol Danvers’ mentor Captain Mar-Vell, is a member of the Kree and the film will no doubt feature some sort of tension between the two races.

On the returning character side, Nick Fury is back and looks to feature heavily in the upcoming film. He’s joined by S.H.I.E.L.D agent Phillip Coulson and Ronan from the first Guardians of the Galaxy film.

Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson and is the first female-led Marvel movie since Elektra. It’s also the first female-led film under the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which launched back in 2008.

Captain Marvel will fly its way into theatres on March 8, 2019.
