Netflix to Adapt 'Cuphead' Into Animated Original Series

Netflixed announced today, that in partnership with King Features Syndicate and game developer Studio MDHR they would be adapting Cuphead into an animated comedy series.

The series will look to expand on the world found within Cuphead. Focusing on the characters of Cuphead and his brother Mugman who together make a deal with the Devil in a high stakes gambling match.

C.J. Kettler will executive produce for King Features Syndicate, with Cuphead creators Chad and Jared Moldenhaur of StudioMDHR executive producing. Netflix Animation is slated to produce the new series, and will have Emmy and Annie award winner Dave Wasson on as an executive producer.

Cuphead developed and published by Canadian based indie company StudioMDHR launched in 2017 to critical and financial success. The games unique classic 1930’s style hand-drawn animation made it exciting from the first time it was shown. With it being both fun to play and watch, it is no surprise it has managed to sell over 4 million units worldwide since launch.

Cuphead is the latest franchise to make the jump to Netflix, following titles like The Witcher, and Castlevania. There is no word on when the new series will hit the streaming platform, but CGMagazine will keep things updated as soon as we hear more.
